This comes following the news in the summer that Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is at the top of a teachers’ list of books that “all children should read before leaving primary school”. The list of must-read novels was selected by 500 teachers for the National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE) and the TES.
Avantis will be running with the Roald Dahl theme on stand C100 at Bett 2016, the world’s largest education technology show, in January. Not only will visitors have the opportunity to get a photo with the original Golden Ticket, they’ll also be in with a chance of winning a number of Avantis’ award-winning LearnPad tablets – if they find one of five replica Golden Tickets in the packets of Avantis-branded pencils that the team will be giving away on the stand!
Avantis has always strived to support schools to raise standards across the curriculum and saw the opportunity to secure the Golden Ticket as a great way to further enhance childrens’ interests in reading by giving schools the opportunity to see the sought-after Golden Ticket in real life. Avantis will be running competitions throughout 2016 which will enable schools to win a visit from the LearnPad team to see the Golden Ticket and receive some great free tablet devices as well, including the Folio 2 – 21.5” desktop tablet, which has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Digital Device’ category for the Bett Awards 2016.
Nik Tuson, Managing Director of Avantis, comments:
“We are extremely excited to have our hands on the original Golden Ticket from such a classic film and story. Avantis was founded in Cardiff, which is where Roald Dahl grew up, so it feels even more special to us.
At Avantis, we are dedicated to engaging children in reading and over the past 4 years have seen some great results from schools using our interactive tablets to do so. We can’t wait to run our Golden Ticket competition at Bett where teachers can not only see the original ticket but also find replicas hidden in our host of giveaways on the stand. We don’t want to let too much out of the bag, but the lucky winners will definitely be leaving with some great prizes and access to digital and hard copies of the book. What better way to get students reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?”
Bett 2016 takes place on 20 – 23 January 2016 at London ExCeL. Register for your free place now at www.bettshow.com. For more information on Avantis and its LearnPad products, visit www.learnpad.com.
